WE LOVE TO SING
We are a diverse group of women united by our shared love for singing and the pride of pushing our own limits to excel to create a sound that an audience really enjoys. Coming from various backgrounds and spanning different generations, our chorus is a blend of unique personalities.
Beyond the music, our choir has become a source of lasting friendships and bonds, creating a close-knit family. Tyneside A Cappella is more than just a singing group; it’s a warm and accepting community that we are all proud to be a part of.
THE SONGS WE SING
Our repertoire features many pop and musical hits from the 1950s up to recent times. All genres of music are explored and we include some powerful ballads in the repertoire adding range and tempo to our performances.
Many of our songs we enjoy singing include Mamma Mia by Abba, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, One Moment in Time by Whitney Houston, Fix You by Coldplay, Shine by Take That, and one of real favourites is the epic ‘Lazy Day’ by Spanky and Our Gang – come on, you must have heard of them!
We learn new arrangements all the time and as soon as we we get a new number ‘performance ready’, we work on another new song to keep us all on our toes! Of course, the festive season comes with some Christmas favourites that we love to sing, especially when we begin to rehearse them in September!
OUR MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Heading our musical endeavours, and keeping us motivated and keeping our spirits high, is Peter Jones, our dedicated Musical Director who guides and inspires the choir through every aspect of our rehearsals and performances.
With a lifelong passion for music, Peter’s journey began as a musician in a 60s band. Over the years, he has seamlessly transitioned into singing and directing choirs. Peter has featured in various musical theatre productions and pursued vocal craft studies at two American universities, he also lends his expertise as a vocal coach. He is a gem, diligently leading Tyneside A Cappella and pushing us all to be the best we can be.
